Cash Ruined Everything Around Me (Original Painting 8.5 inches by 5.5 inches)
This painting was done with watercolor paints and ink on 8.5 inch by 5.5 inch 110lb mixed media art paper.
When I was a kid, the ice-cream truck could make any day a good day. No matter what was going on at home, in school, or out in the world, when I heard the sound of that ice-cream truck approaching, everything stopped. I remember the joy that would spread through my entire body in a split second… but then I would remember that I had to go in and ask my for money. That always stole that joy right back away from me. My parents worked hard for our money, and I knew it still wasn’t enough most times even though they tried to keep their struggles out of my sight. So I hated asking for money. Money seemed to taint a lot of the things it touched around me growing up… but maybe it was all perspective. Some kids just saw the ice-cream truck. Some kids didn’t see the bigger picture. The ice-cream truck taught me a lot about this world before I even understood.
